Good NeighbourThe Good Neighbour campaign is designed to help students living on their own become a contributing member of the community. From initiatives to services and events, students and faculty contribute their expertise to the community in a variety of ways. Students not only achieve higher learning in their post-secondary pursuits, they learn essential life skills and what it takes to become responsible citizens. Your SA runs the Good Neighbor campaign during September to provide information about city bylaws, garbage, noise, landlords, the Town and Gown Committee and many other topics that students need to know to become integrated into the Oshawa community.Food DrivesEach year Your SA partners with the Kinsmen Club and DC and UOIT to support an annual holiday food drive. This food drive helps provide food and toiletries to student and families in the area. We also accept and appreciate sponsorship and donations made by local businesses. Dates for other food drives are promoted throughout the year and students, staff and faculty are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items in the designated boxes placed around campus. We are always looking for volunteers to help with food distribution. Food donations will also be used at the campus Food Centre. It fosters a welcoming atmosphere on campus by identifying spaces where gender and sexual diversity is valued and supported. It allows all students to feel included and welcome in their campus setting so that they may focus on their academic achievements. Pangaea showcases a variety of performances representing all the regions of the world, and is one of the largest performances to take place on campus. Students are encouraged to take part in Diversity Week and celebrate in the unique vastness of our campus. For more information on Diversity Week go to www.your-sa.ca |
