What you would hear during a long car ride with me:
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Where are we? Where are we? I have to go to the bathroom!
Oh wait, what day is it? AHHHH…. the first day of school is almost here! NO! It’s only a dream, it’s only a dream, no it’s real. Well that means I better get going with finishing up this summer’s work. I still have to prepare for Get Green, the first ever orientation day for new Trent in Oshawa students, complete with a BBQ, tons of giveaways, games and prizes. I’m sooo super excited for that, as well as the Trent blackout pub night that follows it that very same night on Sept 12 08. Now I just have to decide what to wear… maybe some Trent clothing that can now be found in both the bookstore and the tuck shop! Hopefully I will find all the new friends I made at NSAO this summer and hangout with them.
Well better get going, lots to plan and do today!!

So it is officially time to start the SA blog, and I begin to mull over the entire summer that has apparently flown by and is close to done.
Looking back into what the Student Association has accomplished over the past four months, I feel that we have really pulled together the preparations for a great upcoming year. With new funding for clubs and more exciting events, not to mention our new alternative ways of marketing, I expect we will see a lot of participation in all things SA.
As I read over my first few paragraphs, it appears as though I’m still in major SA promotion mode. However, I really do feel that way. With every meeting and every conversation, it always arises from every executive and staff member that our decisions need to be in the best interest of the students we represent. And I feel that it is working quite well.
Office life this summer has been interesting. Working with Christa on the new UOIT Ridgeback Rumble, helping Val out with Trent’s NSAO, and assisting Mark and Greg every single day of Durham College’s GPS with Student Life has really helped me understand what each institution’s needs in it’s own identity. I have come to be known as the ‘video guy’ around here putting together the Rumble Training video, as well as the new Goose Chase video from Angela and Sarah in Student Life. Also I have now been recruited to do some DJ gigs for the school, as that rumour of me running gig’s on the side at weddings has also been made aware to everyone. Essentially I have been outed as the ‘guy to ask’ for just about everything, which in some ways makes me feel very important, but at the same time, I find myself feeling rather drained of all information output.
Better get used to it though, the Student Association is a hub of information and that’s just part of the job. And after it’s all over, I can move into my next position.
A high school physics teacher…. Gah!!

So I ran over my landlords cat today… wow how awkward is that? Don’t worry Mr. Mittens will be ok, I’m not sure how but he’s fine. So today has kind of started off on what we’ll call “The wrong foot.” On a happier note Greg and I have been working oh so diligently on the CM 24 Ball Hockey Tournament coming up on September 20, 2008. We just got back in from putting out some donation boxes around campus; I’m really excited that it’s coming together so nicely.
